Israelis in various regions of the country woke up to see white on
Friday morning, with snow falling from the Golan Heights in the north to
the Negev in the south overnight.
Some 20 cm. of snow fell in
Jerusalem overnight and areas of the northern Golan Heights saw 30 cm.
Small amounts of snow also fell in the southern cities of Arad, Dimona
and Beersheba.
Snow in Rosh Pina forced the airport in the
northern town to close on Friday morning. Schools were closed in the
Golan Heights, Jerusalem and surrounding areas and in different parts of
the Galilee.
On Friday intermittent rain was forecast for most
of the country and snow was expected to fall in Jerusalem and in the
elevated areas in the north and south.
The Israel Water Authority reported that the Sea of Galilee rose by 5.5 cm. over the past day.
